The Tamil biodata format, section by section

சுய விவரங்கள் (personal details)

The name as written on certificates — usually the father's initial first (ரா. கவிதா) — then பிறந்த தேதி, பிறந்த நேரம், பிறந்த இடம், உயரம், religion and community, and diet.

கல்வி மற்றும் தொழில் (education & job)

Degree with college or university, current job with company type and city, and ஆண்டு வருமானம் if you choose to state it.

ஜாதக விவரங்கள் (horoscope)

ராசி, நட்சத்திரம், பாதம் and லக்னம் are what families use first to check porutham; add செவ்வாய் தோஷம் status and, if your family uses it, கோத்திரம். The jathagam chart itself usually travels as a separate page. Skip the section if your family doesn't match horoscopes.

குடும்ப விவரங்கள் (family)

Father's and mother's names and occupations, brothers and sisters (married or not, where settled), சொந்த ஊர் and குலதெய்வம் — the family deity often tells the other family more about your roots than a long list of relatives.

எதிர்பார்ப்பு மற்றும் தொடர்பு (expectations & contact)

Two lines on what you're looking for, then the address and one phone number — whoever actually answers.

Writing it well

• Write dates in one style. "22 ஜூலை 1998" or "22 Jul 1998" — not 22/07/98, and not a mix of both on one page.
• Keep the chart off page one. Fields on the biodata, the jathagam as a second page — the photo and contact stay visible.
• Check the font. On an old Windows PC use Nirmala UI or Latha so Tamil renders correctly, then export to PDF before sending.
